The measure has the backing of the Senate's top two leaders -- President Pro Tem Tommie Williams, R-Lyons, and Senate Majority Leader Chip Rogers, R-Woodstock -- who have signed on as co-sponsors. "The federal government has excessively abused the authority of state and local governments for some time," Albers said, explaining why he sponsored the proposal. SR 889 has been assigned to the Senate Judiciary Committee.

That thing was greased, as they say in Chicago, referring to a political phenomenon known as being handled before table. Well, bloggers are asking, was it? Herman Cain rallies Georgia crowd for Newt Gingrich
Posted by admin / Under Georgia Bulldogs
CUMMING, Ga. Herman Cain may no longer be seeking the GOP presidential nomination, but he still has plenty of fans in Georgia. The erstwhile presidential candidate received a standing ovation at South Forsyth High School, where he introduced former House speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) at a county precinct meeting. You know, I knew I had some friends in Forsyth County, Cain said, as the crowd cheered. But were here because we believe Newt Gingrich should be the next president of the United States in America. And contrary to what the mainstream, lame-stream, lapdog media want you to believe, he can...

The senator believes Romney will ultimately win in Michigan but says he will publicly call for the party to find a new candidate if he does not. Poll: Romney Slips in Michigan. (Milt 31%, Newt 26%)
Posted by admin / Under Georgia Bulldogs
Mitt Romney, once seen as a sure bet to win the Michigan Republican presidential primary, now appears locked in a surprisingly tight race with challenger Newt Gingrich. Michigan is home turf for the former Massachusetts governor. His late father, George Romney, was a popular governor of Michigan from 1963 to 1969, and the younger Romney grew up in the Detroit suburb of Bloomfield Hills. But with the states primary approaching on Feb. 28, Mr. Romneys lead remains small, given his home-court advantage. A poll released last week by the Detroit Free Press/WXYZ-TV found that 31% of likely voters supported Mr....

Mercenary Geologist Mickey Fulp--January's Bull Stampedes into February
Posted by admin / Under Georgia Bulldogs
We sat down with Mickey Fulp and while theres not a lot to be happy about, many markets have been going up since the first of the year. And as the old Wall Street Maxim says, So goes January, So goes the Year. And you have to take your profits while you can get them. But of course you always need to have a core holding of gold and silver. The rest is extra money that youve hopefully been able to grow during the course of a very tough couple of years. Theres absolutely no indication that anything has fundamentally...

Georgia Turns Into Shaky Ground for Gingrich ["Evangelicals and Tea Party Breaking for Santorum"]

Georgia Turns Into Shaky Ground for Gingrich By TRIP GABRIEL February 18, 2012 ATLANTA If Newt Gingrich has any hope of a comeback, it must begin here, in the state he represented for 20 years as a congressman and where the haul of delegates to the Republican National Convention is the biggest prize of the Super Tuesday contests next month. Yet when asked about the once-unthinkable possibility that he might lose the primary in Georgia, where Rick Santorum is surging just as he is nationally, Mr. Gingrich offered a shrug. Given this kind of a year, who knows? he...

Another Newt Gingrich 'comeback' on the horizon?
Posted by admin / Under Georgia Bulldogs
GINGRICH: No. It just means that we're going to have to pick up all those delegates in late May, just before the California primary, when we hope to pick up more delegates out here. That still means that on super-Tuesday, we're looking at Georgia, Tennessee, Oklahoma, we're looking at Ohio. It means the week after super- Tuesday, we're looking at Alabama and Mississippi. Now, we have hopes that we're going to keep picking up delegates everywhere and continue. This race is going on for a long time, I think. And what Texas moving back means, combined with California being in...
